Background
Influitive is a customer advocacy and marketing platform, based in Toronto. I joined their team as the lead Senior Designer to spearhead brand, growth and communications. However, I also partnered with the product design team to tackle 'UX debt' projects and played a pivotal role in developing a virtual events experience when the pandemic hit.

From the get-go, I knew Influitive needed a serious refresh. The brand had a somewhat unfortunate playfulness to it that I tried to gently push to something a bit more product-driven and professional, given our enterprise client base. The site itself was a broken old mess on Wordpress that I reworked from the ground up to something clean and functional.

In retrospect, it's hard not for me to look at this work and cringe a little bit. The foundations I had to work with were not great and I think my own personal style often using collage and more creative expression led to work that certainly was better than what they had before but still felt a bit basic yet messy. I got to do a fun little logo animation, though!

When I first joined, the company was planning its largest customer event yet at a beautiful space downtown. Then COVID hit and we had to get creative. I used our own platform's CMS to code a proof-of-concept for a virtual event experience, built right into the app's homepage. To my surprise, the whole company went with it and continued to duplicate the experience for customers as a managed service right through the pandemic.

To achieve that higher degree of maturity for the brand, I knew they would need a system of assets to maintain consistency and set a better standard org-wide. I created new guidelines, slide decks, social ad templates and resources for multiple teams. I wanted to preserve a touch of Influitive's past quirkiness while making it feel professional overall.

Last but not least, my work collaborating with product design on what they called 'UX debt' projects is an interesting detail that introduced me to some of the finer practices of that discipline, including conducting user research, prototyping and testing. Some of the projects I tackled were the user profile page, a gamified badge system, and activity feed.
